| Installation - SwingBox Pickup Truck Toolbox | |

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF INSTALLATION
The general installation steps are as follows:
- MEASURE: Make sure you have a minimum inside bed width measurement of 60 1/8" width at the tailgate opening (where the tailgate meets the truck). To measure, close the tailgate and measure the width of the inside of the pickup truck bed just inside of the tailgate. This needs to be a minimum of 60 1/8! Please verify this measurement before beginning the installation.
- PREPARE BED IF YOU HAVE A BEDLINER: There must be a minumum of 3 1/2" clear mounting surface between the edge of the bed protector and the inside surface of the tailgate in the closed position. In other words, we need to mount this bedliner "metal contacting metal" at the floor of the bed and you must trim the rear edge of the bed protector just enough to ensure there is a minimum of a 3 ½" space on bottom of bed to be able to install The SwingBox Frame.
- Install The SwingBox Frame and Arm Assembly. This is a very similar process to installing a pre-built door and frame on a house. You may have to make adjustments and install shims to ensure that the arm and frame assembly are aligned for easy opening and closing
- Once you have attached the arm and frame and you have the proper alignment, you simply attach the toolbox

INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
*NOTE: When installing on trucks with bed protectors such as plastic bed liners or sprayed on bed coatings, the bed protector may need to be removed from the mounting area to allow the "Swing Box" to fit. There must be a minumum of 3 1/2" clear mounting surface between the edge of the bed protector and the inside surface of the tailgate in the closed position. In other words, we need to mount this bedliner "metal contacting metal" and you must trim the bed protector to allow this to happen.
- Inspect your new "SwingBox," reading and understanding all of the instructions. Then, disassemble the"Arm Assembly" and Bed Mount assembly by removing the Pin.
- If your truck protector has a bed protector sucha s a plastic bedliner or a sprayed on bed coating, it must be removed from the area in which The Swingbox is to be mounted. After the bed protector is removed, cover this area with 2" masking tape to prevent scratching of the painted surface.
- Take Bed mount assembly (the bottom part of the frame that sits onto the truck bed itself. Make sure that you have 5/8" clearance between part M and tailgate in closed position. Measure this at all 4 corners to make sure you have enough clearance.
- Using a pencil or marker, mark all 7 mounting hole locations on the bed surface (2 on each side, and 3 onto the bed itself.
CAUTION Some tailgate coverings may be too thick for proper installation of The SwingBox. Before drilling any holes in the truck bed, verify that the CENTER LINE of the holes to be drilled is no less than 5/8" from the forward edge of the mouting surface (edge toward the truck cab). If this is the case in your installation, you must remove the tailgate liner to properly install The SwingBox. The Part called the "Bed Doubler" may not fit correctly if the bolt hole centerline is too far forward.
- Remove Bed Mount Assembly. Using a punch, center punch all markes and drill holes using 13/32" drill bit. Remove all masking tape and place Bed Mount assembly over the holes.
- Remove tail-lights usinga ppropirsate tools for your truck. For ease of reinstallation, do not remove any bulbs or plugs, just loosent he taillight assemblies and let them hang freely beside the truck bed.
- Insert Doubler Plate into the tail gate cavity on the passenger side of truck. Insert 2 botls through part M beside the "doubler"
DO NOT TIGHTEN Bolts on passenger side of "Part M" at this Time.
- Insert remaining bolts through bed mount assembly and truck bed Insert appropriate shims between Part M and truck bed as needed to fill any gaps. (Shims are not needed on all installations). Attache bolt with 3/8" fasterners.
- Secure ALL Fasterners, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN
NOTE: A second hand (a helper) is needed to assist in moving parts and adjust alignment between parts.
- Apply a thin coat of grease to the shaft of pin assembly.
- With the assistance of your helper, place Arm assembly (between mounting ears on Bed Mount assembly.
- While a helper holds the Arm Assembly, the pin is now elevated. Now simply slide the Pin Assembly through Part mounting ears of the Bed Mount assembly. Some adjustmet by the helper may be needed by moving the end of the Arm assembly up, down or sided to side to allow the pin to pass through the mounting holes (very similar to mounting to reinstalling a door on it's hinges when it is helpful for one person to move the door in position while the other puts the hinge pins in.
- Rotate Arm assembly to the closed position, however do not engage the paddle latch. Check that the bottom surface of the Nylon Ramp is no more than 1/16" higher or lower than the top of the ¾" strike rod protruding from the driver side vertical square tube.
- If the nylon ramp makes contact higher or lower htan described above, shims must be inserted between the passenger side vertical square tube, and the truck bed to achieve the correct alignment.
- Once you have it aligned, simply remove Pin holding arm assembly and remove the arm assembly, and loosen all 3/8" fasteners. Insert the appropriate shims in either the top or bottom bolt locations as needed to achive the required alignment, and secure all 3/8" fasters, but PLEASE DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
- Reinstall the Arm Assembly into the Truck Bed Assembly (re-insert pin).
Repeat steps as necessary to achieve proper alignment.
- Install 7/8" Finish Plugs into all bolt holes (7 total).
NOW YOU ARE READY TO FASTEN TOOL BOX TO THE ARM ASSEMBLY
- Fasten Tool Box Support Angles, to "Part A" using supplied 3/8" fasteners.
- Place Toolbox between the Support Anles with the latch facing away from the arms. Make sure to push the toolbox all the way against the arm assembly! (NO SPACE BETWEEN THE TOOLBOX AND ARM ASSEMBLY)
- Using the holes in the Tool Box Support Ears as a guide,. Drill through the toolbox using a 9/32" drill bit.
- Secure the tool Box to the Toolbox by installing bolts and fasteners provided.
- Secure the Pin Assembly to the Bed Mount Assembly. For Added Security, this may be locked in place using a Padlock (Padlock not included).
